IZ * ONE to perform on Japan’s “Music Station” after topping several J-Pop charts
IZ * ONE will appear on the popular Japanese music show “Music Station” this week!
On February 9, IZ * ONE’s Off The Record Entertainment agency announced that project group “Produce 48” will perform on the February 15 episode of TV Asahi’s “Music Station”.
A representative of the agency commented, “As the most popular music show in Japan, ‘Music Station’ is a program that features Japan’s most iconic singers, as well as famous foreign pop stars. [The appearance] is used to confirm the status of IZ * ONE [in Japan]. “
After making its Korean debut last October, IZ * ONE recently made a record breaking debut in Japan as well. The girl group’s first Japanese single, “Suki to Iwasetai,” managed to beat popular Japanese boy group Kis-My-Ft2 to top the Oricon Daily Singles Chart upon its release on February 6.
Not only did IZ * ONE break the first day sales record for a single released by a K-pop girl group in Japan (previously owned by TWICE’s “Wake Me Up”), the group also hit the second highest first day sales of any premier girl group in Japan, just behind famous Japanese girl group HKT48, which debuted in 2011.
IZ * ONE also topped a number of other charts in Japan with “Suki to Iwasetai,” including Japanese streaming service Line Music’s Top 100. The single also reached No. 1 on the iTunes J-pop charts in five different countries.
Congratulations to IZ * ONE on their successful Japanese debut!
